Polestar has started delivering new Polestar 2 electric cars to Hertz. Currently, Hertz is already deploying Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y models, and they plan to deploy 65,000 Polestar vehicles in five years. 

This marks as one of the biggest single orders for electric vehicles ever made today. Hertz is also expected to use the other upcoming models by Polestar, such as the Polestar 3 electric SUV. 

The Polestar 2 is expected to be available for rent in Europe in Spring. On the other hand, it will appear in late 2022 in Australia and North America. 

Furthermore, Hertz is also adding the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrids as this will enable customers to experience better performance. Hertz also aims to offer Polestars in Seattle, LA, Burbank and Orange County, CA, San Diego, Phoenix/Scottsdale, Miami, Islip, NY, and Newark, NJ. 

Hertz also announced plans to buy 100,000 Tesla Model 3 to be distributed to their US market, which will make up for over 20 percent of their global fleet. 

Also, as part of the collaboration, Hertz will also add some Polestar 1s to their fleet as well, which is a bit surprising because the car was discontinued last year. 

Polestar Continues to Grow

Polestar is very happy with its partnership with Hertz, and the delivery of these models is a milestone for the company. With this, more and more people will have the opportunity to experience electric vehicles.

Currently, there are over 55,000 Polestar cars on the road across 25 live markets. This only shows that Polestar is indeed growing rapidly. 

By the end of 2025, Polestar wants to increase its annual sales to around 290,000. Also, their model lineup will be expanded with the introduction of new cars: Polestar 1, Polestar 2, SUVs Polestar 3 and 4, and a fastback sedan, the Polestar 5. 

The Polestar 2

The Polestar 2 features Scandinavian design and leading in-car technology, which includes the first built-in infotainment system powered by Android Automotive OS from Google in the world. 

It is also known that Polestar aims to bring out the sporty side of Volvo, which is noticeable with the Volvo S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar wagon. 

However, since Volvo tapped into the electric vehicle world,  there were questions about how Polestar will retain its cool image. It seems like the new 2023 Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 will be a complete game-changer. Its power and torque figures are at par with Tesla Model 3 performance, but this one has a refreshing take on how electric vehicles appear. 

The pivot for many car rental companies to adopt electric vehicles is led by Hertz and other recognizable names in the industry.
